Getting Your First Website Online Print

Four steps take a new account from empty to live.

1. POINT YOUR DOMAIN

Set your domain's nameservers to the pair shown for your account in the Client Area. If the domain is registered with us, do this under Domains > My Domains. If it is registered elsewhere, do it at that registrar. Allow a few hours for propagation.

2. PUT YOUR SITE IN PLACE

Either install an application with Softaculous, with WordPress being the usual choice, or upload your own files into public_html using File Manager. Zip the files first and extract them on the server; it is far faster than uploading them individually.

3. ENABLE HTTPS

Once the domain resolves to us, open cPanel > SSL/TLS Status, tick the domain, and click Run AutoSSL. Then switch on Force HTTPS Redirect under Domains.

4. SET UP EMAIL

Create your mailboxes under Email Accounts, and configure them on your phone and computer using the details from Connect Devices.

While you wait for DNS to propagate, you can work on the site using the temporary URL in your welcome email, so nothing is idle.

If any step does not behave as expected, open a ticket rather than guessing.
