What to verify periodically.

ANNUALLY, OR AFTER ANY CHANGE

Nameservers are what you expect The domain resolves to the correct address www resolves Every subdomain resolves correctly MX records are present and point at a resolving hostname Exactly one SPF record exists and lists every sender A DKIM record exists and is valid Verification records for services you use are still present No records point at a previous host No records exist for things you no longer use

WHERE TO CHECK

A DNS lookup tool for what is published.

cPanel > Email Deliverability for mail records specifically.

WHAT TO ACT ON

Missing mail records, immediately Records pointing at old servers A second SPF record Anything you cannot account for

WHAT TO DO AFTERWARDS

Export the zone and store it with your documentation.

WHY THIS IS WORTH DOING

DNS problems are silent. A missing verification record or a stale subdomain causes no error until someone notices something is not working.

Ten minutes a year catches them.
