Finding the right place.

NAMESERVERS

At your registrar. Always.

For domains with us, the Client Area domain page. For domains elsewhere, that registrar.

DNS RECORDS

Wherever your nameservers point.

Ours: cPanel > Zone Editor.

Cloudflare or another provider: their panel.

HOW TO TELL

A WHOIS lookup shows the nameservers in use.

GLUE RECORDS

At the registrar, under a heading such as register a host or child nameserver.

EMAIL ROUTING

In cPanel, not in DNS. It determines whether the server delivers mail locally or sends it to the MX records.

REVERSE DNS

With us, not in your zone. Open a ticket.

DNSSEC

At the DNS provider for signing, and at the registrar for the DS record. Both.

SUBDOMAINS

In cPanel for the directory and web server configuration, and in DNS for the record.

Both, if DNS is external.

THE RULE THAT PREVENTS MOST MISTAKES

Check your nameservers before editing anything.
