Verification and integration.

WHAT ASKS FOR THEM

Search Console Business profile verification Email sending services Payment gateways Collaboration platforms Security and monitoring services

WHAT THEY ASK FOR

Usually a TXT record with a specific value, or a CNAME pointing at their hostname.

WHERE TO ADD IT

Wherever your DNS actually lives. If your nameservers point at Cloudflare, there. Not cPanel.

This is the most common reason verification fails repeatedly for no apparent reason.

ENTERING THE VALUE

Exactly as given. These values are frequently long strings and a single altered character fails.

Copy and paste rather than typing.

THE NAME FIELD

Some services want the record at the bare domain, some at a specific subdomain such as _verification.

Read carefully. Adding it at the wrong name fails silently.

AFTER ADDING

Most services check within minutes. At Cloudflare, changes take effect almost immediately.

Elsewhere, allow for the TTL.

KEEPING THEM

Do not remove verification records after verifying. Many services re-check periodically and verification lapses if the record is gone.
