The mechanics.

FOR DOMAINS REGISTERED WITH US

Client Area > Domains > select the domain > Nameservers.

Enter the pair and save.

FOR DOMAINS ELSEWHERE

Log in to that registrar. The setting is usually under DNS, nameservers, or domain management.

Replace the existing entries with ours.

WHAT TO ENTER

Both nameservers of the pair. Some registrars require a minimum of two.

Exactly as given, with no typographical errors.

WHAT NOT TO DO

Mix nameservers from different providers. A domain with one of ours and one of someone else's produces inconsistent answers depending on which is asked.

THE CUSTOM DNS OPTION

Some registrars distinguish between using their DNS and using custom nameservers. Choose custom and enter ours.

TIMING

Usually within an hour, occasionally up to forty-eight.

BEFORE CHANGING

Note every existing DNS record, particularly mail records.

They do not transfer. You must recreate them.

AFTER CHANGING

Test the site, and test mail both directions.
