Why You Cannot Reach Your Own Site (Firewall Blocks) Print

If your site loads for everyone else but not for you, your IP address has almost certainly been blocked by the server firewall.

WHY IT HAPPENS

Several failed cPanel, FTP, webmail or email client logins An email client repeatedly authenticating with an old password after you changed it A plugin or script on your machine making an unusual number of requests Sharing a network address with someone else who triggered a block Security software on your computer behaving in a way the firewall reads as a scan

HOW TO CONFIRM

Try loading the site from mobile data with wifi turned off. If it loads on mobile but not on your usual connection, it is a block, not an outage.

GETTING UNBLOCKED

  1. Find your current address at whatismyip.com
  2. Open a ticket from the Client Area, or email support from mobile data, quoting that address.
  3. We will release it, usually quickly.

PREVENTING IT

Fix the old password saved in your phone or mail client. This is the single most common cause: a device retrying an obsolete password every few minutes until the firewall blocks the whole connection.

Many home connections have dynamic addresses, so a block may clear by itself when your address changes.
