Selling safety.

WHAT IT IS

A copy of a client's site where changes can be tested before going live.

WHY IT IS VALUABLE

It prevents the failure that costs most: a change breaking a live site.

For a client whose site generates revenue, that is worth paying for.

WHAT IT INVOLVES

A subdomain with a copy of the site and its database Protected with Directory Privacy so it is not public or indexed A process for refreshing it from live, and for pushing changes back

THE PUSH-TO-LIVE CAUTION

Pushing a staging database to a live site overwrites everything since the copy: orders, registrations, content.

Never do that on a site with live data. Push files only, or apply changes manually.

That single caution justifies the service being managed by you rather than the client.

WHO WANTS IT

Shops, membership sites, anything where downtime costs money.

Not a brochure site that changes twice a year.

PRICING

As part of a higher maintenance tier, or per site.

THE OPERATIONAL BENEFIT

You can test updates before applying them, which reduces your own risk.
