When service stops.

FOR NON-PAYMENT

Have a stated process: reminder, warning, suspension, termination, with dates.

Follow it consistently. Inconsistent enforcement teaches clients that deadlines are negotiable.

SUSPENSION

The account is inaccessible and the data remains.

WHM > Suspend an Account. State the reason.

WHAT TO TELL THE CLIENT

Before suspending, with a clear date. Never without warning.

FOR ABUSE

Faster. A site sending spam or serving malware affects other accounts and our infrastructure.

Act, then explain.

TERMINATION

Deletes the account and its data.

Before terminating, take a final backup and offer it to the client. Give them a stated period to collect it.

That protects you from a later dispute and costs you almost nothing.

WHAT TO PUT IN YOUR TERMS

The process, the timescales, and what happens to data.

WHEN A CLIENT LEAVES VOLUNTARILY

Provide a full backup, help with the transfer, and do not obstruct.

Your reputation in a small market depends on how you behave at the end.
