Asking your subscribers.
WHY THEY ARE A GOOD SOURCE
They chose to hear from you. They are more likely to respond than strangers.
WHAT TO ASK
What they want you to write about What stopped them buying What they wish you offered Which of two options they prefer
HOW TO ASK
A short message with one question and a reply request.
For a small list, replies are better than a survey: they produce detail a form does not.
For a larger list, a short form.
KEEPING IT SHORT
One question gets answered. Ten do not.
WHAT TO DO WITH THE ANSWERS
Read them properly, and act on something visible.
Then tell subscribers what you changed because of what they said.
That single follow-up produces more engagement than any campaign, because it demonstrates you read the replies.
WHAT NOT TO DO
Ask and do nothing. People notice.
Ask questions whose answers you will ignore.
THE UNDERRATED VALUE
Subscriber replies are the cheapest market research available to a small business, and almost nobody asks.
