Getting addresses people meant to give you.

WHERE SUBSCRIBERS COME FROM

A signup form on your website A prompt at checkout Asking customers directly Content worth subscribing for Events and in-person contact

WHAT MAKES PEOPLE SUBSCRIBE

A clear reason. "Join our newsletter" is not one.

"Monthly practical guidance on X" or "first access to new stock" tells someone what they get.

OFFERING SOMETHING

A discount, early access, or a genuinely useful guide.

The exchange is explicit and it works.

WHAT NOT TO DO

Buy a list. It converts badly, damages your sending reputation, generates complaints, and in most places breaches the rules. Add people who gave you their address for another purpose. Add everyone who ever emailed you.

Each of these produces complaints, which damage delivery for your legitimate mail too.

THE PACE

Slow. A list grows by tens, not hundreds, for a small business.

That is normal, and the subscribers are worth having.

THE TEST

Would this person remember giving you their address? If not, do not send to them.
