Error 523 and 524: Unreachable and Timeout Print

Two related failures.

ERROR 523: ORIGIN IS UNREACHABLE

Cloudflare could not route to the address in your DNS record.

Usually the record points somewhere wrong: an old server address after a migration, or a typographical error.

Check the A record against the address shown in cPanel.

This is almost always a DNS configuration problem rather than a server problem.

ERROR 524: A TIMEOUT OCCURRED

Cloudflare connected successfully, and our server took too long to complete the response.

Cloudflare's limit is fixed and is generous for a web page.

WHAT CAUSES IT

A genuinely slow operation: a large import, a report, a bulk action, or a page with a slow query.

An external API call with no timeout.

WHAT TO DO

Identify which URL produces it. If it is one specific operation, that operation is too slow for a web request.

Move it to the command line or a background task.

If it is ordinary pages, profile the site and find the slow query.

RAISING LIMITS DOES NOT HELP

Cloudflare's timeout is not adjustable on standard plans. The operation must become faster.
