Storing files at Cloudflare.

WHAT IT IS

Object storage for files, with no charge for data transferred out, which is where comparable services are usually expensive.

WHAT IT IS USED FOR

Serving media for a site with many images Storing backups Hosting downloads Anything where you want files separate from your hosting account

WHY IT MIGHT INTEREST YOU

A media-heavy site approaching disk or inode limits benefits substantially from moving uploads off the account.

Backups too: storage you control, separate from the hosting being backed up.

WHAT IT REQUIRES

Configuration, and for media a plugin that uploads there and rewrites URLs.

Another service to maintain.

WHO THIS SUITS

Galleries, property sites, portfolios, and anyone whose backups have become unwieldy because of media.

WHO IT DOES NOT

A site with a few dozen images. The complexity is not warranted.

THE SIMPLER FIRST STEP

Optimise your images and remove unused media. Most sites approaching a disk limit have both problems.

Then consider moving storage.
