The mail client could not reach the server.

WHAT IT MEANS

No response on the port it tried. A network-level problem rather than a credentials problem.

CHECK THE PORTS

Incoming: 993 with SSL

Outgoing: 465 with SSL, or 587 with STARTTLS

Many networks block port 25 entirely. Some office networks block 465.

Try the alternative outgoing port.

CHECK THE HOSTNAME

mail.yourdomain.com only resolves once the domain points to us.

Before then, use the server hostname from your welcome email.

CHECK YOUR NETWORK

Test from mobile data with wifi off. If it works there, your network or router is blocking the port.

CHECK FOR A FIREWALL BLOCK

Repeated failed logins block your address, and the symptom is a timeout rather than a rejection.

If nothing connects from your network but works on mobile data, open a ticket with your address.

ANTIVIRUS

Some security software intercepts mail connections. Disable its mail scanning temporarily to test.
