The Site Ahead Contains Malware Print

  • malware, backup, troubleshooting, cpanel, email, database, php, restore, ftp, security
  • 0

A browser or search engine security warning.

WHAT IT MEANS

Malicious content was detected on your site. Visitors see a full-page warning and almost all of them leave.

IMMEDIATE ACTIONS

Open a ticket so we can check the account server-side Run ImunifyAV from cPanel across the whole home directory

Change every password: hosting, database, application administrators, FTP, email

DO NOT REQUEST A REVIEW YET

Requesting review before the site is clean wastes the attempt and lengthens the process.

CLEANING

Restore a backup from before the infection, then update everything immediately.

Without a clean backup: replace core files with fresh official copies, replace every plugin and theme with fresh downloads, and remove anything unaccounted for.

Check for PHP files in upload directories. Nothing legitimate puts them there.

CLOSING THE ENTRY POINT

Update everything, remove nulled software, fix permissions, enable two-factor authentication.

A cleaned but unhardened site is compromised again within days.

THEN REQUEST REVIEW

In Search Console, explaining what was wrong and what you fixed.
