The server actively refused the connection.
WHAT IT MEANS
Something responded, and it said no. Different from a timeout, where nothing responded at all.
COMMON CAUSES
The service is not running on that port A firewall rule refusing the connection The domain resolves to the wrong address Connecting on a port that is not open
CHECKING
Does the domain resolve to the right address? Compare a DNS lookup against the address shown in cPanel.
A domain pointing at an old host, or at an address with nothing running, produces this.
IF YOU CHANGED HOSTING RECENTLY
The domain may still point at the old server, which no longer serves it.
IF IT IS A SPECIFIC PORT
Mail, FTP or a custom port may be blocked by your network rather than by us.
Try the alternative port: 465 instead of 587 for outgoing mail, or the reverse.
IF IT AFFECTS ONLY YOUR NETWORK
Test from mobile data. Corporate and some home networks block ports.
WHAT TO SEND US
Which address it resolves to, which port, and whether it works from another network.
