Recovering mailboxes and messages.
FROM JETBACKUP
Where email backups are included in your plan, individual mailboxes can be restored from a restore point.
FROM A FULL ACCOUNT BACKUP
Mailbox contents are included. Ask us to restore a specific mailbox rather than the whole account where possible.
FROM AN IMAP ARCHIVE
If you archived mail to Thunderbird or Outlook, copy the messages back into the mailbox over IMAP. Slow for large volumes, and reliable.
This is why the IMAP archive method is worth doing: it produces a copy you can restore selectively, message by message if needed.
RESTORING INDIVIDUAL MESSAGES
Frequently what is actually needed. Rather than restoring a whole mailbox, find the message in your archive and forward or copy it back.
WHAT TO CHECK AFTERWARDS
That the mailbox quota accommodates the restored mail That folders were restored as well as the inbox That the mail client resynchronises
THE PREVENTION
Regular IMAP archives. Mail is the thing people most often need to recover and least often have a copy of.
