When you lose access to the account.
DURING SUSPENSION
Data remains in place. Nothing is deleted at suspension.
If the suspension is for non-payment, paying restores access and everything is intact.
If it is for abuse, we can usually arrange access to retrieve data or supply a copy while the matter is resolved.
AFTER TERMINATION
The account and its data are removed. Server backups for terminated accounts also age out.
Do not plan on requesting data after termination. Sometimes it can be provided; frequently it cannot, and there is no obligation to.
BEFORE CANCELLING ANYTHING
Take a full backup and verify the archive opens Download email separately with an IMAP client, since this is what people most often lose Note DNS records, cron jobs and credentials
THE SCENARIO TO AVOID
Cancelling hosting, assuming you can retrieve something later, and discovering the account was terminated and removed.
WHY OFF-SERVER BACKUPS MATTER HERE
A backup held only on the account disappears with it. A copy in your own storage does not.
