THE CRON DEPENDENCY
Membership expiry, renewal charges and reminder emails all depend on scheduled tasks.
On our servers this requires a real cron job. Without it, memberships never expire, renewals never charge, and reminders never send.
Test the full cycle before launch.
PAYMENT
Confirm your gateway supports recurring charges with your chosen platform. Not every Nigerian gateway does, and some require the customer to authorise each renewal.
CACHING
Member-only content must never be cached and served to non-members. This is the most serious error possible on a membership site.
Exclude member areas from caching explicitly and test while logged out.
DATA PROTECTION
You hold personal data about members, and payment relationships. Protect access and publish a privacy notice.
THE PRACTICAL ADVICE
Test with a real membership through a full renewal cycle before taking payment from anyone.
