A lighter shop platform.

WHO IT SUITS

Shops wanting something simpler than PrestaShop or Magento, with a smaller footprint and straightforward administration.

INSTALLING

Softaculous or manually. Needs a database and a supported PHP version.

Delete the install directory afterwards, which OpenCart requires.

Rename the admin directory from its default, and update the configuration to match. Leaving the default admin path invites automated attacks.

FIRST CONFIGURATION

Store settings: name, address, currency, country

Tax configuration, before adding products Shipping methods and zones Payment methods

CURRENCY AND LOCALE

Set NGN and the appropriate formatting early. Changing currency after adding products means reviewing every price.

PAYMENT GATEWAYS

Check that Paystack or Flutterwave have a maintained extension for your OpenCart version before committing to the platform.

EXTENSIONS

From the official marketplace. Check the version compatibility, which OpenCart extensions are frequently specific about.

PERFORMANCE

Enable caching in the settings. OpenCart is lighter than most shop platforms but still benefits.
