Diagnosing performance.

MEASURE FIRST

Load a static file. If that is fast while pages are slow, the problem is the application, not the server.

Run the site through a performance testing tool and look at the waterfall: is the delay in the first response, or in downloading assets?

SLOW FIRST RESPONSE

No caching, so every request runs the full application Slow database queries, usually missing indexes A heavy extension doing work on every page An outdated PHP version External API calls during page load Hitting your resource allowance

SLOW ASSETS

Large unoptimised images Too many separate files Third-party scripts

THE ORDER OF FIXES

Enable caching Optimise images Remove extensions you do not use Update PHP Add a CDN

DATABASE

Enable the slow query log or use a profiling tool. A single unindexed query on a growing table is the most common cause of a site that was fast and is now slow.

IF NONE OF THIS HELPS

Open a ticket with your performance report and we will check the account server-side.
