Handling long lists of pages or products.
THE SITUATION
A category with two hundred products, or a blog with three hundred posts, split across numbered pages.
THE ISSUES
Deep pages are crawled rarely, so content on page fifteen may never be indexed Paginated pages can look like duplicates Crawl budget is consumed by pages of little value
WHAT TO DO
Ensure each paginated page has a unique title reflecting the page number Let paginated pages be crawled, so products on them are discoverable Do not set a canonical from page two to page one, which tells engines to ignore everything after the first page
Provide alternative routes to deep content: category structure, related links, a sitemap
SITEMAPS
Include all products or posts in the sitemap, so discovery does not depend on crawling through pagination.
INFINITE SCROLL
Pleasant for visitors and frequently invisible to crawlers, since content loads only on interaction. Provide paginated URLs alongside it.
VIEW ALL
Where the set is small enough, a single page containing everything can rank better than fragments.
