Publishing your email address invites spam. A contact form is safer and easier for visitors.

Installing a form plugin

  1. Install Fluent Forms, WPForms Lite or Contact Form 7.
  2. Create a new form from the plugin's template — Simple Contact Form covers most needs.
  3. Adjust the fields you need: name, email, subject, message.
  4. Set the notification email to an address on your own domain.
  5. Copy the shortcode, or use the plugin's block, and place it on your Contact page.

Make sure it actually delivers

Form plugins send through WordPress, which by default uses PHP mail and is frequently filtered as spam. Configure SMTP with a cPanel mailbox first — see our SMTP article — then send yourself a test submission.

Set the From address to something on your domain such as [email protected], and put the visitor's address in Reply-To. Sending from the visitor's Gmail address causes rejections.

Stopping spam

Enable the plugin's honeypot option, and add Google reCAPTCHA v3 or Cloudflare Turnstile if spam continues.
