Frequently your best-ranking pages.

WHY THEY MATTER

People search for categories more than individual products. "Men's leather shoes" has far more volume than any specific shoe.

Category pages match that intent and can rank for it.

WHAT MAKES ONE RANK

A descriptive title A genuine written description, not just a product grid Clear structure and navigation Enough products to be useful Fast loading

THE DESCRIPTION

Two or three paragraphs explaining what the category covers, how to choose, and what distinguishes the options.

Place it where it is useful to readers, usually at the top or bottom of the grid.

PAGINATION

Long categories split across pages need handling so engines understand the relationship. Most platforms handle this; check yours does.

FACETED FILTERS

Filters generating URLs for every combination can create thousands of near-identical crawlable pages. Control which are indexable.

EMPTY CATEGORIES

A category with no products should not be indexed. Either populate it or remove it.

THE PRACTICAL PRIORITY

Write descriptions for your main categories before optimising individual products.
