The two elements that determine clicks.
TITLE TAGS
Unique per page Descriptive of that page specifically Important words near the start Short enough to display fully, roughly sixty characters Include your brand at the end where it fits
Avoid: identical titles across pages, titles that are just the business name, and stuffing multiple keywords.
META DESCRIPTIONS
A short summary of the page, written to persuade someone to click. Roughly 150 characters.
Search engines may show your description or generate their own from the page. Writing one gives you the chance.
Avoid: duplicating the title, leaving them blank on important pages, or writing one generic description for the whole site.
WHERE TO SET THEM
An SEO plugin provides fields per page in most content systems. Set them for your important pages at minimum.
TESTING
Search for your own pages and read how they appear. If the title is truncated or the description is auto-generated and poor, fix it.
THE PRACTICAL PRIORITY
Homepage, main service or product pages, and your best content. You do not need to optimise every page immediately.
