"Unable to create directory", "The uploaded file could not be moved" and HTTP errors during upload usually come down to permissions, limits or memory.

1. Check the uploads folder

In File Manager confirm public_html/wp-content/uploads exists and is set to 755. Create it if missing.

2. Check your disk quota

cPanel → Disk Usage. A full account cannot write new files. Also check the inode count — thousands of small thumbnails add up.

3. Raise the PHP limits

In MultiPHP INI Editor set upload_max_filesize to 64M, post_max_size to 64M and memory_limit to 256M.

4. "HTTP error" on large images

This usually means memory exhaustion while generating thumbnails. Raise the memory limit, and resize very large photos before uploading.

5. Check the year/month folders

WordPress writes into uploads/2026/09 style folders. If an old folder has wrong ownership, new files fail. Open a ticket and we will reset ownership across the account.

6. Try the browser uploader

Click browser uploader on the media screen. It bypasses the JavaScript uploader and often succeeds where the drag-and-drop version fails.
